After a four year hiatus, Microsoft brought back their Xbox-focused expo in San Francisco, CA today.  Here’s a breakdown of the major announcements.

  • Those of you that have the Halo 3: ODST disc will be able to access the Halo Reach multiplayer beta on May 3.  Mark your calendars!
  • Dead Rising 2 release dates have been revealed:  North America on August 31; Japan on September 2; Europe on September 3.
  • Just before the launch of Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising: CASE ZERO will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE.  It is a prologue of sorts set between the first and second games.
  • Alan Wake will launch May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe.  Pre-orders will come with the Bright Falls Bonus Pack, featuring exclusive content like Avatar items, an Xbox LIVE theme, and a “making of” featurette.
  • Left 4 Dead 2‘s first downloadable content will be available in March.  The Passing will have you meeting up with the original Left 4 Dead cast, and will feature one new uncommon common called the “Fallen Survivor”.
  • The Final Fantasy XIII Special Edition Bundle for the Xbox 360 will hit store shelves on March 9 for $399.  The package includes a 250GB Hard Drive, two wireless controllers, exclusive downloadable content and a standard edition copy of the game.
  • The Xbox Live Block Party will kick off with Toy Soldiers on March 3.  The Block Party continues as the Nintendo 64 classic, Perfect Dark, launches along with Scrap Metal and Game Room in March as well.
  • Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction retail release is set for April 13 in North America, April 16 in the UK, and April 28 in Japan.
  • Crackdown 2 now has more screenshots to whet our appetites for the open-world action in Pacific City.
  • Lost Planet 2 will launch May 18 in both North America and Europe.  Special guests include Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago from Gears of War as well as Albert Wesker of Resident Evil fame.
  • Fable III will be available this holiday.
