Today, Platform Nation announced a unique charity drive called Playapooloza ’08.  The event is a 50 hour gaming marathon to support the children’s charity, Child’s Play and may feature as many as 100 different games.   Starting on August 14, 2008, members of Platform Nation will be playing a series of games in 30 minute increments over a period of 50 hours.   The gameplay will be broadcast live via Ustream.tv, where viewers can donate funds to Child’s Play with an on-screen donation button.  The games being played have been donated by various game publishers, and the 30 minute game segments will be promoting those games being played.  After the event, unopened games will be donated to the Child’s Play charity, and the opened copies will be auctioned with the winning bids being given to Child’s Play as well.  The games and the funds raised will be given to Child’s Play at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, WA.
