Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Hits Stores Today

Ni no Kuni WotWW Oliver Drippy Spellbook

With all the fuss surrounding those big time action packed games coming out this first quarter, you might have missed out on the announcement of a promising looking gem such as Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It’s ok, it happens, don’t beat yourself up over it. Let me bring you up to speed so you’ll be as willing as I am to empty your wallet for this one.

In this PlayStation 3 exclusive RPG, you play as Oliver, a young boy who loses his mother in an accident and with a grieving tear shed onto a stuffed animal, frees Drippy, a once cursed fairy from another world. Drippy begins to tell Oliver that there may be a way to save his mother, but only if they can defeat Shadar, the Dark Djinn, that plagues Drippy’s world, Ni no Kuni, with evil. Drippy gives Oliver a spellbook, The Wizards Companion, that will allow them to travel to Drippy’s world, where they will meet many new friends and allies that will assist them on their big adventure.

Admittedly, I hadn’t heard much about it before playing the demo. But as I was playing the demo for the first time, my first thought was “Wow, this feels like Dark Cloud 2, and I loved that game!” and upon noticing Level-5 was involved with development, it was no wonder why. If you are like me, you might really enjoy the animated beauty in Miyazaki films and seeing that Studio Ghibli is doing the animation here. I am extremely excited and I cannot wait to get my hands on Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This Namco Bandai published title looks like it will be a visually striking and in depth story that will provide hours of fun, with a side of level grinding. Everyone loves a little level grinding from time to time, right?

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will be available January 22, 2013.
