Best Co-Op: Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

Starting out as a PC indie game, Minecraft was originally released as an alpha version in 2009. Minecraft, which is set as a first person game but can be changed to third person view, is an open world full of 3D cubes you could create, place, or destroy. Although it has no real objectives to complete, the freedom to mine for minerals, build structures and survive the many creatures of the night adds up to an addicting quality that has led it to become very popular among PC gamers.

In the next few years Minecraft’s popularity would allow it to be ported to iOS and android devices for mining on the go. Shortly after that, with the help of 4J Studios, this blocky sandbox game found its way onto the Xbox 360. While it wasn’t as expansive as its PC counterpart, that didn’t stop Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from breaking Xbox Live sales records with 400,000 players online. Even more amazing, within a week this Xbox Live Arcade game sold more than one million copies!

With the Xbox 360 being one of the best platforms for online co-op it was brilliant of Mojang to want to bring Minecraft to Xbox gamers. Whether in creative mode or survival mode, being able to team up with your friends makes for hours of fun and endless possibilities of things to create.

Tester at Aperture Labs, vacations in Rapture, and leaps from buildings into haystacks for fun. I love gaming almost as much as I love my husband and daughter.
