Trion Worlds Eyes Record Breaking Rift Marriages

Love is in the air … particularly when Valentine’s Day rolls around. Now Cupid is teaming up with the folks over at Trion Worlds to attempt a record setting love fest within the virtual world of the company’s popular MMO, Rift.

Trion Worlds is only a few days away from trying to get its name into the Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Virtual Marriages in an Online Game in a 24 Hour Period”. Any players who get married in Rift between the hours of 9am PST on February 14th and 9am PST on February 15th will be logged by the Guinness Book of World Records and counted towards the attempted record setting event.

Rift sweethearts looking to “officially” marry their loved ones must see the Marriage Coordinator in Meridian or Sanctum, purchase a Marriage Contract, and use it on their spouse-to-be, at which time both be prompted to confirm their vows. The Marriage Coordinator also sells a Wedding Planner, a book with extensive instructions on in-game matrimony and wedding instances, including how to invite up to 200 guests to the virtual nuptials.

But what about those Rift couples who just couldn’t wait for a world record attempt before getting married in-game? Fret not, lovebirds. Trion Worlds has an answer for you as well: Get divorced. Current couples can hit up the Marriage Coordinator to purchase Divorce Papers and break up their merry matrimony … then turn right around, buy a new Marriage Contract, renew their vows, and get themselves counted for the Guinness record.

To help motivate those looking to seal their fate as husband and wife, Trion has set up wedding instances atop Hammerknell for Guardians and in Orphiel’s Spire for Defiant, where GMs will be performing impromptu ceremonies all day. As an added bonus, everyone who participates will receive the exclusive in-game title “the Avowed” to commemorate their contribution.

So mark your calendars and plan to say “I do” with the virtual love of your life this Tuesday.  Just remember, nothing beats a great bachelor party.
