Best Co-op: Portal 2 (Developer: Valve; Publisher: Valve Corp)
Co-op revolves around cooperation and playing as a team. Taking into account all the games that came out this year touting unique co-op experiences, Portal 2 outshines them all. Portal 2‘s co-op combines intricate puzzles, quirky avatar actions, and an all-around enjoyable experience. Yes, playing co-op with someone can be frustrating, trying to coordinate actions and solve puzzles together, but in the long run you emerge victorious with a sense that you and your partner kicked some Aperture Science butt.
Portal 2 co-op takes you beyond just using two portals and doubles the intensity, throwing in some challenging co-op achievements as well as test your reserves. Portal 2 isn’t a game where you can complete the co-op on your own. No, teamwork is just as important as your portal gun. Playing as either Peabody or Atlas, Aperture’s test robots, you will be put to the test through dozens of levels and different sets of challenges ranging from gels, to light bridges, to momentum challenges. Portal 2 is a game that keeps us coming back again and again. We may have mastered the techniques, but the game has yet to grow old.
